SEATTLE SOUNDERS WOMEN vs. VICTORIA HIGHLANDERS WCC Orca Field
On July 15th, see the Sounders take on the Victoria Highlanders in a crucial league game. Kick-off at Whatcom Community College Orca field is at 7:30. All Rangers players wearing their team jersey (last year’s) or official training t-shirt can attend for the reduced cost of $3!!!

FREE CLINIC FOR RANGERS PLAYERS at 5 PM!
Sounders coaches and players will put on a free clinic for Rangers players before the game from 5 pm until 6 pm and WCC Orca field! Sounders assistant coach Todd Stauber will be running a clinic with help from Field Players Tafara Pulse, team captain and central midfield player; Sophie Reiser, team leading scorer and former WPS player, and Justina MacDowel; forward from Western Washington University as well as Goalkeepers Liz Ruiz, starting goalkeeper from Boise State University and Kara Merfeld, backup goalkeeper, former Rangers player and assistant coach.
The clinic will focus on shooting, possession and dribbling for field players and specialist training for goalkeepers. It will end with a question and answer session for Rangers players to ask Sounders questions about college and pro soccer. Come dressed and ready for soccer.

has been granted 16 complimentary tickets to the Mexico vs. Ecuador game
this Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM, Qwest Field in Seattle.
These tickets were available to Club members and families on a first-come;

Rangers Teams take Third in State Cup
Congratulations to our GU17 Blue and Gold teams, who each placed third in state for their age group, U17, in the Challenge (blue team) and Championship (gold team) Cups at Starfire in Tukwila this weekend. Rangers congratulates coaches Dean Haverstraw of the GU17 Blue, and Travis Connell of the GU17 Gold for the accomplishment of their teams, and wishes to thank them for their leadership and dedication.
And a huge congratulations to the players... third overall in state! Rangers is very proud.
Also, congratulations to the GU 13 Blue team, Coached by Brian Weeda and Suzanne Griffiths on taking SECOND PLACE in the Challenge Cup on Sunday!!!
We salute all coaches and players for a long, hard job well done.

New Rangers U13 White Team coach Dan Abshier
WFC Rangers welcome new Boys U13 and Girls U13 White team coach, Dan Abshier!
Dan’s coaching experience includes:
From 2007 to 2011 Dan has coached with the Evergreen -Washington Rush Soccer Club coaching girls and boys ages teams ages U11 to U8 as well as helping to coach club academy camp and clinics. Before that Dan coached form 1995 to 2007 with the Skagit Storm Select Soccer Club, coaching teams in the premier league ranging from ages U-12 to U-16, including successfully coaching one of his teams to the Washington State Commissioners Cup State Championship. He has additionally coached in the District One Olympic Development program. One of his former Storm teams Storm girl’s teams featured eight District 1 Olympic Development Program players and four state ODP pool players.
Several of Dan's former players who went on to play in college and have entered the coaching ranks themselves. Among those are his daughter Kim (Linfield College), who has coached for Portland FC Academy and is now at Southside Soccer Club in the Portland, area; local standout Emma Whitfield (Yale); Ashleigh Wilson (Northern Alabama); and Wendy Hugo (University of San Francisco).
Dan believes that players should work hard to improve, but also having fun doing it. "The word 'fun' is sometimes forgotten in youth soccer, but it's an important aspect of what we do," Dan said. "I expect my players to give their best effort at all times and to work hard to reach their potential, but we also want to make sure we have some fun in the process."
Dan holds the United States Soccer Federation National C Coaching License (2000) and a bachelors degree from Seattle Pacific University. He lives in Mount Vernon, and works professionally as an editor of books and journals after a long career with the Skagit Valley Herald.
